Most golf software quietly disagrees. It assumes eighteen, assumes a weekend, assumes a two-hour range session on Wednesday, and then reports your nine-hole evening as a partial anything.
Here, nine is nine. It’s recorded and analysed as a round in its own right — and under the World Handicap System it posts to your Index like any other score.
The same goes for practice. Tell your coach you get thirty-five minutes on a Thursday and that’s the session it plans for, not a compressed version of an ideal one.

The barrier for a lot of golfers was never learning. It was being evaluated while learning — the pro who starts from an assumption about you, the range where every swing has an audience, the group behind you on the tee.
This is a private conversation. There are no leaderboards, no friends list, and no way for anyone to see your scores. There is no such thing as a question that’s too basic, and asking one doesn’t change how you get spoken to afterwards.
“What do I do when I'm in a bunker and I've never practised it?”
“How do I keep up with the group without rushing my shots?”
“I have thirty minutes. What's worth doing?”
“Is my grip too big? How would I even tell?”

A lot of golfers are playing clubs sized for someone else’s hands and someone else’s height, and have been told that’s just what golf feels like. It isn’t.
Grip size
The cheapest fix in golf and the one most often skipped. A grip that’s wrong for your hands changes what your wrists can do, which changes the ball flight you’ve been told to fix with your swing.
Length & lie
Both are measurable and both are adjustable. Log the real specs of every club, or on a recent iPhone scan one and let the app read loft, lie, length, offset, bounce and sole width off it.
Gapping
What you actually carry, not what the number on the sole says. Distances come from shots you hit, tracked on the course or imported from a launch monitor.
No brand has paid us anything. There are no affiliate links here and no manufacturer relationships. We look at adjustments before purchases, and “your clubs are fine” is a result we give out often.
Hand measurement for grip sizing and body-scan fitting are both in early testing with a small group right now, so they may not be switched on for your account yet.
Goals are written in your own words, and the coaching orients around what you actually said.
“Join the Tuesday league without dreading the first tee”
“Keep up with the group and stop apologising”
“Play nine after work twice a week and enjoy it”
“Have one shot I trust when people are watching”
None of those are about breaking 80, and none of them get quietly converted into it.
To play with a partner, a parent, the kids, or the group at work. To be in the game rather than watching it from the cart.
That’s a legitimate goal and it changes what good coaching looks like. Pace of play and course etiquette matter more than swing plane. One reliable shot off the tee matters more than distance. Knowing which tees to play — and that playing the right ones is just correct, never a concession — matters more than either.
Ask about any of it. That’s coaching too.
From an introductions thread — the moment somebody decides they're in:
New here! Went out to celebrate Father's Day and had a blast. Definitely golfing again — but I know for sure I need a better stance.

“Is this built for women?”
It's built for individuals — there is no separate mode, and nothing about your coaching is set by a category you were sorted into. What's personal is genuinely personal: your rounds, your measurements, your physical notes, your goals.
“I only play nine holes.”
Then the round is nine holes, analysed as nine holes, and the practice is planned for the time you actually have. Nine posts to a Handicap Index too — it isn't a partial anything.
“I'm not sure I'm serious enough for a coach.”
Serious about enjoying it is enough. The coaching adapts to how much you put in, and there's no minimum commitment it quietly expects from you.
Straight answers about fit, format, and what the coaching assumes.
It counts here. Nine-hole rounds are recorded and analysed as rounds in their own right, not as half of a proper one, and they post to a Handicap Index under the World Handicap System too. For a lot of golfers nine after work is the entire season — treating that as a lesser format is a design failure, not a fact about golf.
It's built for individuals, and that's a real distinction rather than a dodge. There's no separate mode and no assumptions applied by category. Your coaching comes from your own rounds, your own measurements, your own physical notes and the goals you wrote — so it fits because it's yours, not because it was aimed at a demographic.
Length, lie angle and grip size are the three that matter most, and all three are measurable rather than a matter of opinion. You can log every club's real specs in GolfSalt, and on a recent iPhone the app can scan a club and read loft, lie, length, offset, bounce and sole width from it. The coaching is brand-agnostic and we take no commission on equipment, so 'these are fine' is a normal answer.
Mostly by removing the specific things you're worried about, which is rarely the swing. Pace of play, knowing the etiquette, and having a reliable shot you can hit off the first tee do more for the dread than another lesson. Tell your coach that's the goal — in those words — and the practice orients around it.
Yes. GolfSalt is a private conversation: no leaderboards, no friends list, nobody sees your scores. You can ask anything, including the questions you'd rather not ask out loud on a range, and it answers in plain language without commenting on the fact that you asked.
There's a page for the golfer you actually are.
Not where an average golfer is. Not where a program assumed you'd be.
